Hamidun News AI Agenda Index: First Half of 2026
Over six months — January 12 to July 19, 2026 — Hamidun News processed 7,734 pieces about AI from 91 sources. This is the first edition of the AI agenda index. The headline finding: the most frequent topic in headlines isn't a company, it's AI agents (892 mentions), ahead of OpenAI (768) and Anthropic (740). Two labs account for a fifth of all AI headlines.

Over 188 days — from January 12 to July 19, 2026 — Hamidun News processed 7,734 pieces about artificial intelligence from 91 sources. This is the first edition of our AI agenda index. Periodically, we show what the global and Russian AI press actually wrote about — based on our own feed, stripped of press releases and marketing.
The headline finding of the half-year is unexpected. The most frequent topic in headlines isn't a company — it's a format. AI agents appear in 892 headlines. That's more than OpenAI (768) and Anthropic (740) individually. The agenda has shifted from "whose model is smarter" to "what these models do on their own."
Who's setting the agenda
We counted how often major players show up in headlines over the half-year — searching for company names in headlines across the full set of 7,734 pieces:
- OpenAI — 768 headlines (9.9% of the entire feed)
- Anthropic / Claude — 740 (9.6%)
- Google / Gemini — 548 (7.1%)
- NVIDIA — 338
- Amazon / AWS — 271
- Meta — 212
- Microsoft — 162
- xAI / Grok — 147
- Apple — 139
- DeepSeek — 70
The gap between the top pair and everyone else is nearly twofold. Two labs, OpenAI and Anthropic, hold a fifth of all AI headlines. NVIDIA is the only hardware player in the upper half of the list: infrastructure remains a storyline, not just background noise.
Agents outpaced vendors
892 headlines containing the word "agent" aren't about a single product — they signal a shift in topic. A year ago, model releases dominated the agenda. In the first half of 2026, the main story became what AI does without a human in the loop: autonomous assistants, coding agents, task orchestration. The theme overtook any individual company.
What July was about
July produced 1,414 pieces. By topic:
- Language models (LLMs) — 276
- Hardware — 254
- Business — 197
- Creative — 181
- Autonomous systems — 156
- Startups — 90
- Medicine — 77
- Robotics — 70
- AI ethics — 58
- Research — 55
Language models and hardware ran almost neck and neck — every new generation of models brings a chip and data-center race with it. July's weekly pace accelerated: 343 pieces in week 26, 409 in week 27, 662 in week 28.
Who we read
Over the half-year, the feed pulled in material from 91 sources. July's top sources:
- The Next Web — 248 pieces
- Bloomberg Technology — 220
- Habr, AI section — 197
- 3DNews — 92
- TechCrunch — 58
- MarkTechPost — 51
- AWS Machine Learning Blog — 51
- The Guardian — 49
- CNews — 32
- AI News — 29
The mix of international business press (Bloomberg, The Guardian), dedicated tech outlets (TechCrunch, The Next Web), and Russian-language platforms (Habr, 3DNews, CNews) is deliberate. We gather the agenda from both markets at once and translate it into six languages.
Month-by-month dynamics
Feed volume by month: January — 604, February — 1,317, March — 164, April — 1,777, May — 2,019 (peak), June — 439, July — 1,414.
To be transparent: the dips in March and June are technical pauses in our pipeline, not a drop in global news. The index reflects what passed through our editorial feed, not the absolute volume of AI coverage worldwide. The reliable signals here aren't the monthly totals, but the shares: who's in the headlines, which topics, which sources.
Methodology
The index is built on Hamidun News's own database: 7,734 approved pieces published between January 12 and July 19, 2026. Company mentions are detected via substring search on the company name in the Russian-language headline; isolated false matches are possible, but they don't change the order of magnitude. Topics follow our in-house categorization applied during processing. Sources are drawn from the source field of the original news item. Live aggregates are updated on the [portal's analytics page](https://news.hamidun.com/ru/research).
How often is the index published?
This is the first edition, covering the entire first half-year since the portal's launch — January 12 to July 19, 2026. Going forward, we plan to publish the index monthly, with fresh vendor, topic, and source shares, so shifts in the agenda can be tracked month to month.
Can these numbers be cited?
Yes. All figures come from the Hamidun News database; the period and methodology are described above. When citing, please credit the source: Hamidun News, news.hamidun.com. If you need a breakdown by a specific topic, company, or period, reach out and we'll run the numbers.
Why are agents dominating the agenda instead of models?
Because the market has shifted from asking "which model is smarter" to asking "what can it do on its own." 892 headlines about agents versus 768 about OpenAI over the half-year is itself the answer: value has moved from the model itself to what it autonomously does on a human's behalf.
