Granola raises $125M at a $1.5B valuation as it pivots to enterprise AI

Granola, a meeting-recording app, has raised $125 million at a $1.5 billion valuation, a sixfold increase in a single round. The company is expanding its product, turning from a smart notepad into an enterprise AI platform with agent support. Users had long complained about weak integration with AI agents. The team listened and added the capabilities they asked for.

Granola, a service that automatically records and summarizes meetings, has closed a $125 million funding round. The deal lifts the company's valuation from $250 million to $1.5 billion, meaning its value grew sixfold in a single round. At the same time, the company announced a major expansion of the product: Granola is moving beyond a narrow meeting-recording tool and becoming an enterprise AI platform that supports autonomous agents.

Granola appeared just as the market for productivity tools was booming. After the pandemic, company employees shifted to hybrid work, and demand for automating routine tasks, in particular taking meeting minutes, surged. Granola offered a simple solution: launch the app during a video call, and it drafts the notes itself, highlighting key decisions and tasks. The product quickly won an audience among people who spend a lot of time in Zoom and Google Meet.

As the user base grew, however, it became clear that simply transcribing and summarizing meetings was no longer enough. Enterprise customers wanted more: integrations with workflows, automatic CRM updates, task creation in trackers and, above all, the ability to delegate routine actions to AI agents. Users complained openly about these limitations, and the Granola team listened.

The new round will fund exactly this strategy. The company is adding full support for AI agents: Granola will now be able not only to capture the outcome of a meeting but also to trigger a chain of actions automatically, such as sending emails, creating tasks and updating data in corporate systems. This moves the product from the "smart notepad" category to a "corporate AI operating layer."

The $1.5 billion valuation looks ambitious, but it is explainable in the context of the current market. Investors are actively funding companies that can embed AI in business processes and have real revenue. Granola evidently demonstrated commercial traction; otherwise the round would not have happened with such a multiple jump in valuation. By comparison, many AI startups sit for years on paper valuations without real monetization; here, investors bet on a working product with proven demand.

The broader context matters too. The market for enterprise AI tools is going through a consolidation phase: several large platforms are fighting to become the operational hub for teams. Notion, Confluence, Microsoft Copilot and Google Workspace are all building AI into daily workflows. Granola is betting that the meeting is the entry point to a team's working context: once you know what was discussed and which tasks were assigned, you can automate almost any downstream process.

The move toward agents is a change of business model. Agent-based tools are priced differently from SaaS subscriptions: by the number of actions performed or the volume of automated processes. For Granola, this opens a path to a significantly higher average revenue per enterprise customer.

The sixfold valuation jump in a single round reflects a broader trend: AI tools that have proven Product-Market Fit and are embedded in enterprise workflows currently command a substantial premium. The next question is whether the company can execute its agent strategy before competitors take the same ground.
