Picsart opens an AI agent marketplace: content creators can "hire" AI assistants
Picsart has launched an AI agent marketplace inside its editor, letting content creators "hire" AI assistants for specific tasks. It starts with four agents with different functions, and new ones will appear every week. The move is part of a wave of agent-based products for content creators: Adobe, Canva and Figma are heading the same way. Picsart is betting on the mass market.

Picsart has launched a built-in AI agent marketplace, a new section inside its app where content creators can plug specialized AI assistants into their workflows. The platform started with four agents, and the company promises to add at least one new agent every week.
Picsart is one of the world's largest tools for creating and editing visual content. Its audience exceeds 150 million active users, most of them content creators: bloggers, social media marketers, independent designers and small-business marketers. Over the past few years, the company has steadily built generative AI into the editor's core features, including automatic background removal, portrait retouching and stylization in the manner of various art movements.
Now Picsart is making a qualitative leap, moving from standalone AI features to an agent-based model. The difference is fundamental: an AI agent does not just perform a single operation on command. It takes on a whole chain of tasks autonomously and carries it through to a result.
The marketplace concept is simple and intuitive for an audience used to freelance platforms: the creator "hires" the right AI assistant for a specific task. That could be drafting a monthly content plan, generating a series of posts for a particular social network, automatically processing images in a consistent brand style, or managing several parallel projects. Each agent specializes in a narrow area and can work with other tools in the Picsart ecosystem. The company has not yet disclosed exactly what the first four agents do, but it announced that the lineup will grow weekly.
The step fits into a broad wave of agentification now sweeping the entire industry of AI tools for content creators. Adobe is building agent-based scenarios into Firefly and Photoshop, especially to automate routine tasks in enterprise workflows. Canva has launched AI assistants right inside its template editor. Figma is testing autonomous agents for UI design.
But Picsart takes a somewhat different position: its audience is primarily individual creators and small teams that are price-sensitive and unwilling to spend time learning complex enterprise platforms. For this audience, the "plug in an agent for the task" model may work faster and more naturally than in the enterprise segment.
The marketplace also opens a new monetization avenue for Picsart, potentially bigger than the traditional subscription model. The company could charge for access to individual agents, by subscription or through a credit system, and eventually open the platform to third-party developers. The second scenario is the most interesting for growth: independent teams would build thousands of niche agents for tasks that would be unprofitable for Picsart to develop itself. That is how a photo-editing tool gradually turns into an agent ecosystem.
Picsart's agent marketplace is another signal that the market for creative AI tools is entering a third wave of development. The first brought generative features: text-to-image, auto-retouching, smart background. The second built those features into mainstream products and made them affordable. The third, unfolding right now, is agent-based automation: AI takes control not of a single operation but of the entire workflow, from defining the task to the final result.
Whoever first builds a convenient, open agent platform for mass-market creators will gain a key competitive advantage for the next several years. Picsart is betting that it will be that player.
