Artificial intelligence is steadily moving into every area of our lives, and energy is no exception. Moreover, clean energy is where AI's potential shows most fully, promising radical changes in how energy is produced, distributed and consumed. But how exactly does AI help achieve sustainable development goals, and what challenges lie ahead?

The transition to clean energy is a complex, multifaceted task that calls for innovative approaches and technologies. Traditional methods of managing power systems often prove ineffective in the face of new challenges, such as the instability of renewable sources (solar and wind) and growing demand for electricity. This is where artificial intelligence comes in, offering smart solutions for optimizing power system operations.

One of the key applications of AI is power grid management. AI can analyze huge volumes of data from various sensors and devices to forecast electricity demand, identify potential problems and make quick decisions to keep the grid running stably. This is especially important for integrating renewable energy sources, which are variable and unpredictable.

AI also helps plan infrastructure investments in the energy sector. By analyzing data on energy consumption, demographic change and technological development, AI can accurately forecast future energy needs and recommend the best projects to meet them. This helps avoid inefficient investments and directs resources to the most promising areas.

Another important area is developing new materials for clean energy. AI can speed up the discovery and optimization of new materials for solar panels, batteries and other devices needed for the transition to sustainable energy. Using machine learning, AI can analyze huge databases of material properties and predict how materials behave under various conditions, which significantly cuts research time and costs.

Deploying AI in the energy sector holds enormous potential for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving energy efficiency and lowering dependence on fossil fuels. However, certain challenges remain. The safety and reliability of AI-controlled systems must be ensured, and questions about the ethics of AI use and data protection must be resolved. Still, the prospects for AI in clean energy look quite encouraging, and AI can be expected to play an increasingly important role in the transition to a sustainable energy future in the coming years.
