AWS releases ActorSimulator for testing AI agents
AWS has introduced ActorSimulator in Strands Evals, a tool for testing AI agents in live multi-turn conversations rather than on single requests. The simulator creates a user persona on its own, tracks that user's goal and ends the conversation on a stop signal. It then returns a full trace of the entire dialogue, including turns, tool calls and metrics for quality evaluation in a team's test pipeline.

AWS has introduced ActorSimulator, a component of the Strands Evaluations SDK for testing AI agents in multi-turn conversations with realistically simulated users.
Why test AI agents before deploying them in business?
Checking an agent in a single turn is not enough. In a real product, a conversation almost never ends with one message: the user clarifies the request and changes the direction of the dialogue, so multi-turn scenarios need to be tested.
Why is it hard to test AI agents?
Checking an agent in a single turn is simple: there is an input, a response and metrics. But in a real product, a conversation almost never ends with one message.
How does ActorSimulator work?
Instead of static question-answer pairs, teams get controlled dialogues with personas, goals and natural branching as the conversation unfolds.
