SpaceX and xAI: Elon Musk Builds a Single Empire for the Future

Elon Musk appears to have decided to pull his most ambitious projects into a single fist. Sources say SpaceX and xAI are in the final stage of merger talks, and the deal could be announced as early as this week. The logic is clear: SpaceX gets the brains to run its Starship fleet, while xAI gets access to enormous resources and data. The combined entity would be able to compete with OpenAI and Google not only in software but in the physical world. We are waiting for official confirmation and a new valuation, which will almost certainly break the ceiling.

Elon Musk is doing what he does best again: rewriting the rules of the industry while everyone else is still trying to grasp the scale of what is happening. Reports say SpaceX and xAI are in deep merger negotiations. If insiders are to be believed, we could hear an official confirmation within days. This is not just another corporate reshuffle but the birth of a monster that would combine the physical power of space flight with next-generation computational intelligence.

To understand why this is happening now, it helps to look at how Musk has built his companies in recent years. xAI emerged as a response to OpenAI's closed approach, but it has always lacked its own infrastructure comparable to the capacity of Google or Microsoft. On the other side is SpaceX, a company that does not just launch rockets but generates terabytes of data and needs sophisticated algorithms to make its systems autonomous. The idea of joining these two worlds had been in the air since the launch of the Colossus supercomputer, which xAI built in record time.

The merger would give xAI direct access to SpaceX's engineering resources and, more importantly, to stable funding and an operational base. In return, SpaceX would integrate Grok and other xAI work into the management of the Starlink satellite constellation and Starship navigation. Imagine a neural network trained not only on text from the internet but on real physical flight and telemetry data. This is exactly the kind of vertical integration every tech giant dreams of, but only Musk, with his control over both structures, can realistically pull it off.

Of course, such a move will raise plenty of questions from regulators and investors. The valuation of the combined company could soar, making it the most valuable private asset in the world. But for Musk himself, it is above all a way to speed up his global goals. If colonizing Mars requires superintelligent systems, why keep them in separate legal entities? Pooling resources would cut bureaucratic overhead and focus all efforts on developing a shared technology stack.

For the market, this is a clear signal: the era of pure software AI startups is coming to an end. The advantage now goes to those who can tie algorithms to real-world production and infrastructure. While competitors argue about ethics and copyright in training datasets, Musk is simply building a system in which data is delivered by his own rockets. It is aggressive, it is risky, but it is entirely in his style.

The key question: will this deal become a catalyst for merging other Musk assets, such as Tesla, into a single super-structure?
