A new player is emerging in wearables: MossCode, a startup that has raised several tens of millions of yuan in an angel round. The company's valuation reached an impressive $100 million. The investors are the funds XVC and Qingliu Capital. MossCode plans to use the money to expand its development team and secure stable serial production of its devices. The launch in Europe and the US is scheduled for the first half of 2026.

MossCode's founder, Ni Zhuoyang, has extensive experience investing in technology companies, including well-known projects such as Yun Whale and Zheng Hao. She later led the home energy storage division at Zheng Hao, where within a year she grew the team from 10 to 100 people and reached annual revenue of 1 billion yuan. Co-founder Ma Xiao has worked at OPPO, where he was responsible for flagship products in image processing. The MossCode team includes specialists who previously worked at OPPO, Apple, Suunto and Garmin, covering the full product cycle, from understanding user needs to commercialization.

Ni Zhuoyang's decision to found a sports and health company stems from personal experience. As a student she rowed professionally and suffered a serious injury, which gave her a deeper understanding of how the body recovers and why individualized training matters. That experience became the starting point for a product that goes beyond simple data collection.

Market analysis shows that the Apple Watch, despite its popularity, has posted declining sales for two years in a row. Meanwhile, specialized devices such as Garmin continue to grow. In the third quarter of 2025, Garmin reached record revenue of $1.77 billion, confirming growing demand for professional sports and health solutions. Whoop and Oura Ring, which specialize in health monitoring, are also posting impressive results, pointing to demand for continuous, data-driven health tracking.

MossCode aims to fill an existing gap in the market. Garmin offers deep data analysis but is hard for ordinary users to navigate. Whoop, for its part, focuses on recovery and sleep monitoring but falls short on data accuracy during workouts. Some users end up wearing both Whoop and Garmin to get a full picture of their condition. MossCode plans to build a device that combines the strengths of both approaches: accurate data tracking during workouts and comprehensive recovery analysis.

The MossCode team believes the technology has reached the point where a device can be light, comfortable and functional at the same time. It also draws on recent advances in sports science and neuroscience to give users not just data but personalized recommendations based on their individual characteristics. AI plays the key role here, analyzing the data the device collects and suggesting optimal training programs and recovery recommendations.

MossCode plans to start with niche markets such as cycling and endurance running, then broaden its audience. The company believes it can offer a unique product that helps users understand their bodies better and reach their athletic goals. Ultimately, MossCode wants to become a window into self-understanding by deciphering the "code" of each user's body.
